For years, CRL"s VE4 Vertical Edger has been acclaimed the finest edger on the market - capable of producing the amazing waterfall profile as well as a high quality O.G. edge in a single pass. Now, CRL/Somaca has improved the VE4 Automatic Edger. One push of the button starts all machine functions. Another button automatically adjusts conveyor width for all glass thicknesses from 1/8" to 1" (3 to 25 mm). Conveyor height is only 29-1/2" (749 mm) for easy handling of heavy glass. All machine functions on the VE4 are now operated by a PLC control interface. At-a-glance the operator can read spindle amperage, conveyor load, and conveyor speed. To simplify wheel changeovers when necessary, the spindles and all adjustments are located in front of the machine. Digital position readouts a teach spindle allow the operator to quickly set-up for the next production order without guesswork.

Capacity: Accepts glass thickness from 1/8" to 1" from a minimum size of 4" x 4", or 2" strips over 12" long.

Maximum glass weight 1200 Lbs. (544 kg).

Somaca/CRL rubber-covered pad conveyor and variable speed.

A.C. gear motor drive carries the glass at speeds from 0" to 376" per minute.

Grinding/Polishing Wheels: Furnished with four heavy duty Somaca precision edging spindle motors, equipped with digital height adjustment for setting depth of cut and angular adjustment for various glass thicknesses.

Diamond wheel coolant from supplied tank is fed to wheels by 1/4 HP immersion pump.

Wheel changes and adjustments are from the front of the machine.

Wheels: Two 7" O.D. x 2-1/2" I.D. diamond wheels, or two 8" polishing wheels can be used on each spindle.

Utilities: Electrical: Six motors, total 13-1/4 HP, 70 amp service @ 230V power.

Water: Minimum consumption - limited to drag-out loss from coolant tank.

Air: Compressed air only required with optional polish spindle air assist. 80 PSI @ 1 CFM.

Controls: All controls, including motor starters, enclosed in a machine-mounted electrical control panel.

Large analog ammeters furnished for spindles.

Wire for 3 phase power, 50 or 60 cycle power, and any voltage.

Options: Pneumatically assisted polish spindle adjustment for constant pressure between the glass and polish wheel.

Cerium oxide high luster polishing system.

Vertical extension rack for edging large lites of glass.
